RARE Original Vintage Joe Talirunili Stonecut print in colors. Signed and titled in syllabics in pencil on paper below print. Also the artist has carved his name, JOE, in English and in Inuit syllabics, into the stone itself so that it is a part of the print. Title translation: READY FOR THE HUNT. Dated 1972. Numbered 28/45. This is one of Joe’s early stonecuts in a small edition of only 45 signed and numbered copies, and is printed in three colors, which is rare for Joe’s prints. It showcases his signature style and features nearly all of the iconography for which he is now famous, with two hand carved boats each with sails and multiple passengers, as well as igloos, tents, dog pulled sled, canoe, an owl, and many other hunters and animals. It is a vibrant work full of life which beautifully describes the many ways in which the Inuit have hunted for their food and survival. This print has no notable wear or aging and is in generally pristine condition. The only notable flaws are two small very thin strips of old tape on the outside edge from a previous framing (Price includes shipping/handling within the mainland of North America.
